Overview

Bhutan, also known as The Land of Dragons, is a beautiful country settled in the lap of Mighty Eastern Himalayas. The major area of Bhutan is covered with dense forests and these are the hidden treasures in terms of the natural beauty of this tiny country. Another unique thing about Bhutan is that it has developed the concept of Gross National Happiness in which the development is measured by the happiness of the residents and peacefulness.

The Bhutan Raod Trip is a must take for everyone who loves to travel and explore.

DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1, 14 April 2019, ARRIVAL AT BAGDOGRA, TRAVEL TO PHUENTSHOLING

The journey to Bhutan will start from the Bagdogra Airport. Our trip leader will meet you at the airport and from here we will travel to Phuentsholing, which is the border town of Bhutan.

Phuentsholing is around 164 km from Bagdogra and it will take around 5 hours to reach there. We aim to depart by 12 noon from the airport. The journey is comfortable and through the plains and tea gardens. We will reach Phuentsholing by 5 pm in the evening and check-in to the hotel.

Day 2, 15 April 2019, TRAVEL TO THIMPHU

Post breakfast, we will proceed towards the immigration office to get our permits. Be ready with your passports and passport sized photographs. After necessary formalities, we will start our journey towards Thimphu – The Capital of Bhutan, which is around 150 km from Phuentsholing. This 5-6 hours journey is through the scenic mountains.

The town of Thimphu is settled in a valley covered with green mountains from all the four sides. After reaching Thimphu, we will check-in to our hotel and relax. We will roam around the local markets of Thimpu in the evening.

Day 3, 16 April 2019, SIGHTSEEING IN THIMPHU

Post breakfast, we will start by visiting the Tashichho Dzong which is a fortress, Bhutan King Palace, Changangkha Lhakhang which is a 12th-century Buddhist temple, National Memorial Chorten or the Stupa and Motithang Takin Preserve which is famous for Takin – the National Animal of Bhutan. We will also have to visit the immigration office to get the permits of Punakha and Chele-La pass.

The evening will be spent at the Buddha Point as sunset looks mesmerising from that place. Buddha Point is a temple and a huge statue situated on a hill in the outskirts of Thimphu. After all this, we can visit the football stadium if time allows.

Day 4, 17 April 2019, TRAVEL FROM THIMPHU TO PUNAKHA

After breakfast, we will drive towards Punakha which is around 84 km from Thimphu. We will be crossing a mountain pass, Dochu-La, which is one of the high passes of Bhutan and is situated at an altitude of 3100 meters. On a clear day, one can see a panorama of Himalayan peaks from this pass. The Punakha town is settled along the two rivers Pho Chu and Mo Chu which enhance the beauty of this place. The town is mainly famous for the beautiful Dzong and the longest suspension bridge of the nation. We will visit the bridge and explore the town and then we will check in into our hotel by evening.

Day 5, 18 April 2019, TRAVEL FROM PUNAKHA TO PARO

We will start our day with the sightseeing at Punakha Dzong. The Dzong means the administrative centre of a district and it also comprises of a temple or a monastery. The Punakha Dzong is built beautifully on the river bed. After exploring, we will head towards the town of Paro.

Paro is a historic town, settled in the Paro valley and is home to many historic sites and palaces. The town is 125 km from Punakha and it will take around 4 hours to reach. After reaching, relax in the hotel as the next day is reserved for the trek to Tiger’s Nest.

Day 6, 19 April 2019, TREK TO TIGER’S NEST

Post breakfast, we will head towards the starting point of the short hike to The Tiger’s Nest, a monastery situated on a mountain cliff and is a popular and sacred site for Buddhists.

The monastery is dedicated to Buddhist Guru Padmasambhava. One can see the beauty of Paro and the paddy fields from the trail. We will explore the temple and come back to Paro. The evening can be spent well in the local markets of Paro.

Day 7, 20 April 2019, SIGHTSEEING IN PARO

Today, we will do the sightseeing in Paro and will cover places like Paro Dzong, National Museum of Bhutan and exploring the markets and cafes of Paro. Apart from all this, we will also visit the Chele-La pass which is the highest motorable pass and is also the gateway to Haa Valley. While travelling to the Chele la, we will get a view of Paro Airport as it looks amazing from the top. After all this, we will come back to the hotel and start packing as its time to bid adieu to the Land of Dragons.

Day 8, 21 April 2019, TRAVEL FROM PARO TO BAGDOGRA

This day embarks the beginning of the end of this beautiful expedition. Capture some scenic visions that you might have missed out on your camera. After a scenic and memorable drive, we will end the day’s journey at Bagdogra Airport.

We will reach the airport by 6 in the evening so book your flights/stay accordingly.

♥ Remaining 50 % of the package cost to be deposited 15 days before the trip date.

Cancellation

We would love to host you, but in case you are unable to travel as planned and need to cancel your booking then you can do that with

  • No Cancellation Charge – if you cancel 30 Days prior to trip date
  • Within 15 Days of Trip – 25% Cancellation Charges of the trip amount.
  • No Refund will be made on any other cases.
